The Liberals have scored a decisive victory in the 42nd federal election, winning a majority and ousting the Harper Conservatives from power.
Liberal Pam Goldsmith-Jones beat Conservative incumbent Conservative John Weston in the riding of West Vancouver- Sunshine Coast – Sea to Sky Country.
She talked to News Director Sean Eckford shortly after being declared winner.
The NDP’s Sheila Malcolmson won the riding of Nanaimo-Ladysmith.
The riding of Cowichan-Malahat-Langford went to the NDP’s Alistair MacGregor, and the NDP’s Gord John’s ousted the area’s only other CPC incumbent former cabinet minister John Duncan who was running in Courtenay – Alberni.
Stephen Harper is stepping down as the leader of the Conservative Party, but says he’ll stay on as MP for Calgary Heritage.
