Sunshine Coast RCMP now confirm the victim in a Saturday night boating accident near Gambier Island was a 6 year old girl. Her 60 year old father is still missing.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says they first got the call around 9pm from a person who’d found the boat adrift in the area of Anvil Island. The body of the girl was found a couple of hours later, the search for the man continues.
The pair was from North Vancouver.
RCMP say there’s nothing to suggest foul play, but they haven’t ruled anything out.
Constable Harrison Mohr of Sunshine Coast RCMP says they’re hoping to hear from anyone who may have seen a beige, 20’ aluminum hard-top boat in the area between Lions Bay and Gambier Island in the late afternoon or evening Saturday.
