An overflow crowd came out to the Sunshine Coast Regional District Board offering support for farmers who want an exemption from watering bans if the SCRD goes to Stage 4 restrictions.

He says losing the ability to water would be especially devastating for newer growers just trying to get their farms established.
The Directors decided to meet the group halfway; approving an exemption for registered farm properties that either have or will soon have water meters, but not including home vegetable gardens in the exemption.
SCRD officials are predicting that without significant rainfall they’ll likely have to go to Stage 4 restrictions in mid August.
