Nanaimo’s first annual VegFest is happening on Saturday, July 29th, 2023.Nanaimo VegFest will be held from 10 am to 5 pm at the beautiful waterfront Maffeo Sutton park in downtown Nanaimo. We’ve had a phenomenal response from both the local community and the wider vegan community. There will be 50+ vendors showcasing vegan food and merchandise as well as educational groups and lifestyle medicine health care practitioners. Food will be both food trucks and other ready to eat food, as well as retail products to purchase and take home (and sampling!). Bring a cooler to take tasty treats home with you!
Many of our vendors are vegan, with some non-vegan local vendors excited to jump on board and try something new. VegFest will offer a good selection of healthy foods and decadent treats including ice cream, poutine, burritos, quesadillas, an Indo-Caribbean street food called “doubles”, buddha bowls, salmon and tuna made from plants, dairy-free feta, dairy-free chocolates, many gluten free items, long-time vegan staples like tempeh, and a new WFPB pea-protein product called “Magic Eats”.
Vendors will have various merchandise including clothing, books, artisanal pottery, aeroponic/small space gardening, CSAs and more. There will be educational groups and healthy lifestyle practitioners with clinical practices and award winning books. The event is free to attend & Nanaimo VegFest will have the traditional festival flair with face painting, kids activities and a bouncy castle.
