Nanaimo RCMP search for man related to stabbing

Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public’s help finding a man wanted on an arrest warrant in connection with a stabbing last week.

Police are searching for 50-year-old Shane Steinhauer, who faces a charge of aggravated assault.

“It is alleged that on the evening of October 9, 2026, Steinhauer was involved in an altercation with another individual,” reads a news release from police. “During the incident, an adult man sustained serious injuries. Steinhauer left the area before police arrived. Despite ongoing efforts by investigators, Steinhauer has not been located.”

Steinhauer is described as a white man about six-foot-three and 190 pounds, with tattoos on his neck, head and left arm. Police say the photo they released is recent.

Anyone who sees Steinhauer is asked to call 911. Anyone with information that could help locate him is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
