Nanaimo RCMP investigate two unrelated thefts

Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public’s help in two unrelated theft investigations. Police said both incidents occurred May 23.

The first involved an electric scooter stolen from the 100 block of Gordon Street.

“The electric scooter was secured by its owner around 8:40 a.m. near the staff entrance of the Marriott hotel,” reads an RCMP news release. “When the owner returned at 3:20 p.m., the scooter and helmet were gone.”

Police described the scooter as a black stand-up Evercross EV10Z accompanied by a lime green helmet.

The second theft involved a drone stolen from the 200 block of Hansen Road the same day. Police said it was taken from a parked vehicle after a rear window was smashed.

“The drone has since been remotely deactivated by the manufacturer. The serial number of the drone is 2137FDE1AL1BB533369B,” RCMP said.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
