Election 2014: Sechelt – Milne ousts Henderson

A man who served two terms in the 1990s is back as mayor of Sechelt.  Bruce Milne defeated incumbent John Henderson Saturday night, with newcomer (and acclaimed SD 46 candidate) Christine Younghusband a distant third.

It was a campaign marked by an unusually high number of third party sponsors and advertising, and some sharp words between the two main contenders during all-candidates meetings over campaign tactics.

Despite losing to Milne by just under 1000 votes, Henderson says he’s happy with the voter turnout and he’ll support Milne as he takes over the job.

Milne, for his part, says he’s excited by the make-up of the in-coming Council.
