Clippers advance to conference finals

The Nanaimo Clippers are heading to the third round of the British Columbia Hockey League playoffs.

The Clippers advanced to the Coastal Conference final after defeating the Cowichan Valley Capitals 3-2 in Game 7 Monday night in Duncan.

Nanaimo outshot the Capitals 42-22 in the series-clinching game. Indiana Grossbard had two points, including the game-winning goal in the third period.

The Clippers will now wait to see their opponent in the third round as the Chilliwack Chiefs face the Prince George Spruce Kings in Game 7 Tuesday night to decide their second-round series.

The trip marks Nanaimo’s first appearance in the conference final since 2022, when the Clippers reached the Fred Page Cup final before losing to the Penticton Vees.
