Emergency alert testing scheduled for Sunshine Coast area

Testing of the emergency alert system will begin next month on the Sunshine Coast.

The Sunshine Coast Regional District said a test alert will be issued May 7 to help inform residents about how the system works and how to prepare in the event of an emergency.

The notification will include the following message:

“This is a TEST of the Sunshine Coast Regional District Emergency Alert System. This is ONLY a TEST. If this had been an actual emergency or threat, you would now see or hear instructions with information to help keep you safe. For further information go to scrd.ca/alert-system. This is ONLY a TEST, no action is required.”

Residents are encouraged to download the Voyent Alert! app and subscribe to the Sunshine Coast Regional District to receive alerts.
