Vancouver Coastal Health has issued a boil water advisory on Keats Island in the Sunshine Coast Regional District’s Eastbourne water service area.
A news release from the SCRD says residents should boil drinking water for at least a minute because of increased levels of bacteria in the water supply.
“SCRD utility staff will be on Keats Island today to investigate the cause of the elevated bacteria levels,” the SCRD says. “The issue is not believed to be related to delivery of supplemental water supply that took place during the summer.”
The advisory will remain in place until Vancouver Coastal Health rescinds it.
