Fundraiser to help support Nanaimo Regional General Hospital

Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) is looking to raise money to support the greater needs fund to help with equipment, and boost staff training.

The fundraiser aligns with Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie campaign and manager of corporate and community engagment at NRGH Tina Moreira said it’s an important piece of the hospital to elevate care by funding programs.

“To have this fund available for the hospital when something comes up is important for our healthcare workers and hospital,” said Moreira.

The fund has already donated to the hospital’s critical care unit, imaging, and emergency units.

Moreira said the goal of this campaign is to raise $50,000 for the hospital.

Rock City Tim Horton’s owner Lillian Mayne said helping the hospital with fundraising to support healthcare workers is something they consider essential.

“We’re hoping to sell more cookies to help the hospital. Last year we did $46,000 and we’d like to get more sales to boost the hospital’s funding,” Mayne said.

The Smile Cookie Campaign to support healthcare at NRGH kicks off on Monday.

The hospital said this campaign will boost healthcare across Vancouver Island.
