Parksville offers rebates for property upgrades

Parksville is offering rebates to its residents for upgrades to their properties.

Residents can get money back when they install low-flush toilets, plant a tree, install security cameras or purchase rain barrels.

Homeowners can get $75 when they replace a high-volume toilet (13 litres) with one that has six litres or less flow. The rebate is only available to existing residential and commercial buildings connected to both the city’s water and sewer systems.

The city offers one rebate per property each year for tree planting, which can be up to $50. Homeowners can get up to 50 per cent of the cost of installing a rain barrel, up to $50 .

Anyone looking to install a security camera system can get up to $100 from the city.

“Our rebate programs are subject to available funding and the submission of a complete application which meets the rebate program criteria. Eligibility criteria vary for each rebate program and the city’s rebate programs offered on a first come, first-served basis, may change or be terminated without notice,” reads a news release from the city.

Application forms for the rebates can be found on the city’s website.
