A plan is being put in place to help the Town of Gibsons improve and modernize, public transit by identifying gaps in the current network whether it involves foot traffic or bus.
According to the town, round two of the public engagement session closed and provided feedback on how transit should be prioritized, as well as some of the projects that need to be adopted for an effective active transportation infrastructure to be put in place.
The town says active transportation is vital in creating a healthy and sustainable community, and they’re working with Urban Systems Ltd to create a comfortable and intuitive active transportation network for all ages and abilities.
The final active transportation plan will include a long-term network for multiple modes of transportation, which includes on-street and off-street active transportation facilities.
The plan focuses on four themes including being connected, safe, convenient, and equitable.
