Volunteers are needed to help the City of Nanaimo promote an inclusive and accommodating atmosphere for everyone who lives in the area.
The city says applications for the Advisory Committee on Accessibility and Inclusiveness where volunteers will help the city build social and political equity within city plans, policies, bylaws and infrastructure.
The committee will also make recommendations to council to make sure the city is inclusive of all residents regardless of age, abilities, or background.
Mayor Leonard Krog says a city that welcomes everyone is a healthy city.
“This helps foster a community that is welcoming and accessible to all,” he says. “I invite anyone who wants to contribute to a more inclusive Nanaimo to submit an application.”
The committee was first established in 2019 and was updated in 2022 to meet the Accessible British Columbia Act.
Applications will be accepted until Mar. 29 at City Hall.
