Nanaimo residents urged to help CHIP in for fundraiser

Nanaimo Search and Rescue says they are looking to take your Christmas tree away and recycle it for a small donation.

According to director of fundraising Jessica Henderson, volunteers will unload your tree and with help from Vancouver Island Tree it will be chipped down. They ask residents to make sure all decorations, tinsel and lights are off beforehand.

The fundraiser is being held on Jan. 6 and 7 between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Country Club Mall and all proceeds will go to help support the John Barbsy Outdoor Education program.
