Gibsons still waiting on word from VCH about water chlorination

The Town of Gibsons says it’s going to be after Labour Day before they know if they’ll have to keep chlorinating drinking water.
Vancouver Coastal Health imposed a chlorination order in the wake of e-coli contamination in June.  The Town has been installing systems on all the wells that draw water from the aquifer.
Town officials say they’ll be meeting with Vancouver Coastal Health September 3rd, and expect to hear then if chlorination has to continue.  The source of the e-coli is was never found.
Council is also expecting a report on the costs of dealing with the water system issues in September.
Gibsons is currently under Stage 2 water restrictions.  They’ve set up a special webpage for updates.
