Nanaimo thieves released after stealing TV from Walmart

Two people are facing charges after they were caught on camera stealing a 75” TV from Walmart at Woodgrove Centre.

The incident happened June 8 at approximately 6:45 p.m and the duo were captured on video with a large box on top of their vehicle as they drove off, but not before a Nanaimo RCMP officer noted the vehicle’s license plate and what the suspects were wearing.

Police noticed the same vehicle at a gas station in central Nanaimo and charged a 48-year-old man, and a 43-year-old woman with theft under $5,000 while they were taken into police custody.

Police later searched the vehicle and found parts of the stolen television but did not recover the TV.

The two were later released and are scheduled to appear in court September 6.
