An early morning collision between a motorcycle and truck on Highway 19A has resulted in the death of a man.
Nanaimo RCMP says the man was traveling north on Highway 19A when he collided with a grey Dodge D350 pickup truck as it turned left on Oliver Road.
The man was transported to Nanaimo Hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the pickup was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene where they continued to co-operate with the investigation.
RCMP closed the section of the road for several hours while investigators completed their investigation and collected forensic evidence.
Police say no other vehicles were involved in the incident and are asking anyone with dashcam footage, or witnesses to the crash, to contact Nanaimo RCMP.
