Stage 2 Water Use Restrictions kick in for Sunshine Coast Regional District

Stage 2 Water Use Restrictions are now in effect for the Sunshine Coast Regional District. It’s part of the SCRD’s goal of reducing consumption by 33 per cent per person by 2020.

There are specific days and times when using sprinklers, soaker hoses, irrigation systems and other watering devices are permitted:

  • For even addresses, outdoor watering is allowed Thursday and Sunday from 7:00-9:00 a.m.
  • For odd addresses, outdoor watering is allowed on Wednesday and Saturday from 7:00-9:00 a.m.

Hand-held hoses with shut-off devices can be used to water trees, shrubs, flowers or vegetables at any time.

Hosing off sidewalks, driveways, windows or exterior building surfaces is not allowed, unless you’re pressure washing surfaces to prepare for painting or it’s a safety requirement.

Low-flow drip irrigation systems are exempt from the watering restrictions.

Permits for watering beyond the allowable times to establish new lawns will not be issued.

For more information, check out the SCRD’s website or contact the SCRD at 604-885-6806 or the Town of Gibsons at 604-886-2274.

For now, people on the Pender Harbour systems are still at Stage 1.
