Municipal election voting areas to attract crowd tomorrow

The municipal election’s general election date is tomorrow.

Voting in Nanaimo will be at Beban Park Social Centre, Chase River Elementary School, City of Nanaimo Service and Resource Centre, Dover Bay Secondary School, Georgia Avenue Elementary School, Nanaimo District Secondary School, Randerson Ridge Elementary School, Salvation Army Church, Uplands Park Elementary School, Wellington Secondary School, and Woodlands Secondary School. 

Those on Protection Island can go to the Protection Island Fire Hall. 

Voting in Sechelt will be available at Davis Bay Elementary, Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre, and West Sechelt Elementary.

Voting in Gibsons will take place at the Gibsons & Area Community Centre.

All locations will be open from 8am to 8pm.

If you are not on the town’s voters list, you will have to bring a piece of ID in order to vote. According to the Town of Gibsons, ID can be;

  • A BC Driver’s Licence
  • A Social Insurance Card
  • Car Insurance
  • A BC ID Card
  • A Utility Bill
  • A Rent Receipt
  • A Property Tax Notice
  • A Credit Card or Debit Card
  • A BC Care Card
  • A Student Card

Additionally, some BCTransit buses will not be collecting any transit fees if you’re going to the polls on election day. 

That includes the Regional District of Nanaimo, but not service on the 70 Nanaimo-Cowichan Express. While Sechelt did not opt-in, rides are free all day on Saturday.
