Six people were sent to hospital on Sunday after an accident that snarled traffic on the Alberni Highway for four hours.
There was a two-vehicle collision at the Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park intersection at 3:15pm on Sunday, June 22.
An Acura turning left into the park from the highway drove directly in front of an oncoming Toyota SUV, causing significant damage.
Two of the four people in the Acura suffered serious injuries and were airlifted to hospital in separate BC Ambulance helicopters. The other two, plus the driver and passenger from the SUV, were taken to hospital by ambulance for observation.
The Alberni Highway was closed for four hours for the investigation and clean-up. Speed and alcohol were not factors in the collision. Charges are being considered by the Oceanside RCMP.
