Elections are closer than you think: Sunshine Coast Women's Campaign School this weekend

BC’s municipal elections are only 5 months away.
And a couple of women on the Sunshine Coast want to encourage as many women as possible to get their names on the ballot for council or school board, and give them some of the tools they’ll need on the campaign trail.
Cathie Roy is one of the organizers of this weekend’s Women’s Campaign School.
She says the idea grew out of what she learned about why some women were reluctant to run.
They’ll be covering things like making the decision to run, election law, ethics, campaign strategy, and media.  Speakers include former West Vancouver Mayor Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, who’s making the move to federal politics by running for the Liberals in 2015.
Several graduates of the past two Campaign Schools have gone on to win elections.
This year’s school is June 21st from 9am to 3:30pm at the Gibsons Public Market.
There is a small fee for the day ($30, including lunch). To register email: [email protected] or call 604-880-8002.
