Backroad Trash Bash Collects 6700 Kilograms of Junk

The Sunshine Coast Regional District’s annual Backroad Trash Bash saw more than six-thousand-seven hundred kilograms of junk cleared away.

Robyn Cooper, the SCRD’s manager of solid waste programs, says this year’s event was a “great success”.

Cooper says the turnout and spirit of the volunteers were really good.

Some 60 volunteers removed trash from 31 illegal dumping sites along roads in the Halfmoon Bay, Sechelt, and Roberts Creek areas of the Sunshine Coast.

They cleared away wood waste, roofing materials, electronics, furniture, old appliances, metal, and ordinary garbage.
