Downtown Sechelt, a Friday Destination in August

Cowrie Street in Sechelt will be a hub of activity on Friday afternoons throughout August.

The Sechelt Downtown Business Association is behind an initiative to bring music and art to the area between 12-2 pm every Friday.

Executive Director Theressa Logan said marrying music and art will promote a vibrant downtown area.

“It’s live music or art and it’s situated on the grassy area on Cowrie (Street) in front of Sunstone Beads and Cowrie Pharmacy,” said Logan. “It’s just some music, people can sit down and have lunch, there’s blankets out, it’s just a way to create some vibrancy in the downtown for when people are shopping and enjoying the sunshine.”

Logan said the Sunshine Coast has the largest number of working artists in North America and the business owners support this initiative.
