Gibsons Councillor Dan Bouman wants his fellow councillors to take a bit of a field trip before finishing up a review of the Official Community Plan.
Bouman says it’s important to get out and see the parts of town that fall under the so-called Riparian Area Regulations that protect things like streams.
Councillor Lee Ann Johnson says there’s a lot of confusion in the public around those rules.
Bouman also called for more time to get the OCP review finished. He says many on the committee handling the review and in the general public have complained about the process feeling rushed.
A staff report on progress to date is expected next week. No specific date was set last night for Council’s “field workshop”.
