It was a case of doing everything right, in the wrong place

The Sunshine Coast RCMP were called to investigate a report of shots fired on Monday.

Mounties were able to determine the shots were coming from the wooded area north of the Sechelt Airport by a forest service road.

Three men from the Lower Mainland were located there and admitted they had been using legal firearms to shoot into a dirt mound they believed was well past the airport property, with no immediate risk to the public.

The men, who all had the proper licences, were determined to have been operating their firearms in a proper manner, just in an improper location.

The men were advised to take extra care in the future to find appropriate locations from which to discharge their firearms.
