Keep your cat inside says District of Sechelt

The District of Sechelt is asking residents to keep their cats inside.

“After council decided not to adopt a new bylaw surrounding cats they felt it was better to take part in an online educational campaign instead,” said Julie Rogers, Sechelt’s Communications Manager.

“For three reasons we are asking cat owners to keep them inside. The main reason is that it’s really dangerous for cats to be outside. We also want to protect other wildlife because Canada’s bird population is being threatened by cats.”
Rogers also said the district has received some complains as people are letting their cats out and the cats are leaving their waste behind in other people’s properties.
