Western Forest Products is reopening all operations expect its Nanaimo sawmill.
Work was stopped at WFP facilities after last Wednesday’s deadly shooting. The company says extra security will be in place Monday as employees return.
The United Steelworkers union has been working with the company, and says employees will be back at the Nanaimo mill Tuesday for what’s being described as a “soft” restart.
That means those workers who don’t feel ready to return won’t be required to, and counselling will be available as long as workers need it.
The union has also confirmed details of memorial services for the two men killed.
The memorial for Fred McEachern will be held at noon on Saturday (May 10) at the Beban Park Recreation Centre. The service for Michael Lunn is also Saturday. It starts at 3 pm, at Generations Church at Terminal Park.
The man charged with their murders, 47 year old Kevin Addison, is due back in court May 13.
