After years of community fundraising, construction is getting underway on a new playground at West Sechelt Elementary.
The group of parents behind the project had a very clear goal. Sue Shinn of the West Sechelt Playground Enhancement Committee says they wanted it to be an “inclusive” playground that could be used by kids, and care-givers, with mobility or similar issues.
The $114-thousand raised by the committee will be used to pay for special equipment and a rubberized surface to replace the old gravel. The existing play structures will be dismantled and relocated.
Construction starts this weekend (May 3/4) and Shinn says they’d welcome some volunteer labour. Visit westsecheltplayground.com to find out how you can help.
