Daytime robbery in Nanaimo

Two teenagers are facing charges following a brazen daytime robbery in Nanaimo.

RCMP say the 19 and 15-year-old boys are alleged to have robbed a 20-year-old at knifepoint Monday morning around 11 in the vicinity of the Co-op Gas Bar on Bowen Road.

The victim, who was punched in the face, had his marijuana and cocaine stolen.

The victim told police a firearm was also produced during the incident.

Both suspects were arrested, one following a foot chase, but no firearms were found.

Police say, as far as the drugs that were allegedly taken from the victim, considering the level of violence involved, officers used their discretionary powers and chose not to pursue charges against the victim.
