The Gibsons Fire Chief will be filling in as the Sunshine Coast Regional District’s Emergency Coordinator until further notice.
This comes as the former Emergency Coordinator Bill Elsner decided to resign.
“I’ll be supported by Deputy Coordinator Bruce Searle and it’s going to be a team effort going forward,” said Rob Micheal.
“We’ve got many qualified volunteers, community partners, local government staff and we’ll be working together to have the program work effectively.”
BC’s Auditor General put out a report on emergency preparedness report, Michael added the SCRD has reviewed that report and they’re looking for ways to enhance their own program.
