The Sunshine Coast is contributing to the wildfire firefighting efforts.
Acting Fire Chief, Matt Gilroy says the Office of the Fire Commissioner called the Sechelt Fire Department Monday looking for some assistance and two members took up the call.
They headed out Tuesday morning with a tanker truck.
Gilroy says they’ve already been moved from their base camp near Fort St James…..
Gilroy says 18 members of the Sechelt Fire Department have stepped up to volunteer to take a deployment if need be.
Members from the Roberts Creek and Gibsons Volunteer Fire Departments have also taken deployments to help with the wildfires.
The Nanaimo Fire Department has also sent a crew.
