A project to bring more affordable rental units to Nanaimo will begin this summer in.
Nanaimo Mayor Bill McKay says the building will be on Buttertubs Dr and this is great news for the harbour city.
Tenants will have access to light housekeeping services and be able to buy meals from a commercial kitchen.
The monthly rental rates are expected to range $1,100 for a two bedroom and $700 for a studio.
The Nanaimo Affordable Housing Society and the City of Nanaimo are also pitching in money for the project.

McKay adds lots of new homes are being built in the community.
The construction for the 159 unit building should be done by 2020.
