Numerous officers flooded the downtown core and within minutes the suspect was located and arrested near the Port Place Mall.

The investigation is ongoing.

RCMP have released photos from video surveillance from three recent gas station robberies and one from a homeowner.

Police believe it was the same man responsible, but in the home theft, he had an accomplice.

The gas station spree began last Tuesday around 11 in the evening when the Chevron gas bar in the 200 block of Terminal Avenue was hit, then the suspect moved on to the Shell gas station in the 100 block of Nicol Street and then struck again at the 7-11 in the 400 block of Terminal Avenue.

No weapon was shown in any of the incidents and only cash was taken.

Mounties say last Monday morning around 9, the same suspect, accompanied by a woman, pulled up to a home in the 1400 block of Waddington Avenue in a dark coloured Volkswagon and proceeded to help themselves to some tools, but the homeowner got some pictures of the pair before they drove off.

The man is described as white, 45 to 55 years old with a bushy moustache. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, white t-shirt and cut off jeans.

If anyone has information on the identity of the two suspects, call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. If you wish to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com. or call 1-800-222-8477.
