A medical marijuana producer in Nanaimo finally has the green light to start selling their product to patients. Tilray is now a Licensed Producer, meaning they can grow medicinal cannabis at their facility on Maughan Road and supply approved users.
Philippe Lucas is Tilray’s Vice President of Patient Research and Services. He says getting their license from Health Canada was a long and bureaucratic process.
Lucas says their online store will open for business on Monday, April 28. Their goal is to supply between 2000 and 4000 patients within their first year of operations.
About 50 people are currently working for Tilray in Nanaimo and they’re still hiring.
Lucas says in the 15 years he’s been working in the medical marijuana industry, he’s never seen so much time, energy and resources put into meeting the needs of Canadian patients.
