MP wants the issue of pension theft addressed

Politicians will be headed back to Ottawa following the Christmas break at the end of January.
Nanaimo Ladysmith MP, Sheila Malcolmson says the NDP are planning to press the Liberals some more on the issue of pension theft……
Malcolmson says the Hamilton Mountain NDP MP, who is the critic of pensions introduced legislation during the last session to protect workers from pension theft.
Scott Duvall says, under current legislation, large multinational corporations are using Canada’s inadequate bankruptcy laws to take money meant for workers’ pensions and divert it to pay off their secure creditors.
Malcolmson says she’s hoping to hold an open house in Nanaimo on the topic in February.
Malcolmson says her office is also dealing with civil servants who have been waiting two years for the Pheonix Pay system to be fixed and there’s no end to the problem in sight.
She is urging anyone whose employer is the federal government and who isn’t being paid to contact her office and they’ll do what they can to help.
Malcolmson says the system has been a disaster and it’s hard enough for people at Christmas time without having your employer owe you 15,000 dollars in back pay.
