Eight non-profits in Nanaimo are getting Gaming Grants.
They include the Georgia Strait Alliance which will use the cash to educate and find solutions to threats facing the Strait of Georgia.
The Nanaimo and Area Land Trust will use some cash to carry out it’s mission to promote and protect the natural values of land in the Nanaimo area.
Station 27 of the RCM SAR will get some cash for training volunteers, some extra safety equipment and to help with the maintainance of the vessels.
The Nanaimo Region of the John Howard Society which helps at-risk youth who have been arrested for a criminal offence is also getting some grants.
