Salmon stocks seriously low

Salmon stocks in Vancouver Island rivers are more than six times lower than they were at the same time in 2012.
Salmon populations in waterways range from predominantly chum, to chinook and coho and Naturalist with the Goldstream Nature House, Tracey Bleackley says the 2017 salmon run has posted alarmingly low numbers.
Salmon face many perils during their life cycle and they range from trying to avoid becoming an lunch for either orcas or commercial fishermen.
The season isn’t over yet and many people come to the nature parks throughout Vancouver Island to check out the salmon run.
