SAR says hikers need to be prepared, especially now

As we move into the shoulder season, Nanaimo Search and Rescue wants to remind outdoor enthusiasts to be prepared for both extremes of the weather.
Carly Trobridge says hikers should tell someone about their plans and be prepared…..
Trobridge says hikers should have rain gear with them, dress in layers which include wool because it can cool off significantly at night, and have a shelter like a tarp or blanket.
She says even if you plan to be away from your car only an hour or two, you should be prepared to be self sufficient for 24 hours.
