Residents in the Regional District of Nanaimo are diverting about 68 per cent of their waste from the landfill.
Larry Gardner says that’s a pretty good track record but the District is looking at ways to reach the 90 per cent diversion mark and to do that a number of changes are being planned…
Gardner says if all the proposed changes were put into place the total bill would add a couple million dollars to the current 16 million dollar budget and just how that would be paid for hasn’t been determined yet….
A series of public meetings have been scheduled in each RDN municipality and Electoral Area for between now and October 23rd.
