Snuneymuxw want their flag back

The Snuneymuxw First Nation is planning to collect their flag from Nanaimo City hall.

First Nation Councillor and Chief Negotiator, Doug White says it’s the band’s response to what is going on with the City Manager, Tracy Samra, who is a First Nations woman…..

The hostility at Nanaimo City Hall has been ongoing for the last couple of years and a couple of months ago Samra, who is off on leave, released a video, she says, proved she assaulted by a Councillor.

White says, although the violence likely wasn’t directed at Samra because she is First Nations, the band wants to denounce violence against
Indigenous women.
