A young pilot managed to walk away with minor injuries after skidding off a runway and crashing at the Sunshine Coast Regional Airport, Monday night.
Dwight Davison, Assitant Chief of the Sechelt Fire Department says the young man who flew by himself from the Lower Mainland misjudged his distance from the end of the runway.
Davison says it was the best case scenario because it just so happens that wild broom that was growing along the bank and it kept the plane from tumbling down and flipping over.
He adds the young man was taken to the hospital but believes his pride is more bruised than anything else on his body.
