Sechelt born, Nanaimo raised Jensen wins jazz Juno

A bit of a Sunshine Coast/Nanaimo connection at the Junos.

The Christine Jensen Jazz Orchestra took the Juno for contemporary jazz album with “Habitat”.  Jensen was born in Sechelt, and grew up in Nanaimo. These days she calls Montreal home.  Her sister Ingrid played trumpet on the album.

Parksville’s Phil Dwyer was nominated in the traditional jazz category for “Look For The Silver Lining”.

David Gogo of Nanaimo was nominated in the blues category for “Come on Down”.
