Vancouver Coastal Health launches RADAR program

Vancouver Coastal Health is trying out a new research project that will allow people to text in reports and receive reports about overdoses in their community.

Sara Young, one of the leaders of the Real-time Drug Alert & Response project says VCH wants to know if there are drug contamination issues in the community and they believe this is just another piece to the puzzle.

Young says they were getting reports from service providers and people who used substances, but those reports were coming in too slowly.

If you want to submit a report to the system, you can text “BAD DOPE” to 236 999 DOPE. Or if you want to receive alerts, you can text “alert” to the same number.
