The rainbow flag will be hoisted up the flagpole at City Hall for the start of Pride Week activities Friday in Nanaimo.
The Flag Raising ceremony is a chance for the community to remember that all great celebrations begin with a struggle.
Lauren Semple of the Nanaimo Pride Society says the celebrations throughout the week are for everyone….
Semple says the events really kick off with the parade on Saturday……
Semple says the Nanaimo Pride celebrations are the third largest in B.C. behind Vancouver and Victoria.
Other events for the Nanaimo Pride Society this week include the festival, which follows the parade at Maffeo Sutton Park, a youth dance, the pet parade next weekend followed by the Pride dance.
