BCNU says it's hearing a change of tone from Island Health

The BC Nurses Union says they’re pleasantly surprised by an apparent change of tone fromĀ Island Health in the ongoing argument about Care Delivery Model Redesign.

CDMR uses care aides to do some of the work nurses are doing.Ā  It’s already at Nanaimo Regional General, and will roll out to Victoria hospitals this spring.

BCNU Pacific Rim Regional Chair Jo Salken says after showing up, yet again, at the Island Health Board meeting they’re seeingĀ some movement.

Salken says the union will sit down next month with one of Island Health’s executive directors.

Salken says complaints from patients themselves about the quality of care at NRGH seem to be behind Island Health’sĀ shift.
