Sechelt mayor says SIL could play role in finding new owner for Shoppers

The mayor of Sechelt says he’s hoping to avoid the sale or closure of the only Shoppers Drug Mart on the Sunshine Coast.

The Competition Bureau is ordering Loblaw to sell the Sechelt store as part of the approval for its take-over of the Shoppers chain.  The store is close to a Loblaw owned grocery store with a pharmacy.

But Mayor John Henderson says the Sechelt location was seemingly picked without much understanding of the unique situation.

Henderson says if it turns out there’s no option but for Loblaw to go through with the sale, Sechelt Innovations Limited is ready to work to help find a new owner for the Shoppers Drug Mart.
