Nanaimo ranked in KPMG’s 2014 Competitive Alternatives study

Nanaimo has landed high on the list of the most cost-effective places to do business in the Pacific Northwest, according to KPMG’s 2014 Competitive Alternatives study. It measures the overall cost of doing business in a community based on 26 key components.

Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation CEO Sasha Angus says, compared to other areas in the Pacific Northwest, the Nanaimo region ranks only slightly below Kamloops and Kelowna.

Angus says it will be a useful tool in terms of attracting business to Nanaimo. He says the cost of doing business differs depending on the industry.

Angus says NEDC worked hard to have Nanaimo included in the KPMG study, which is done every two years. He says they’re still waiting on a more detailed breakdown of the study results.
