Union looking to courts to stop cable ferry project

The BC Ferry and Marine Workers’ Union is going to court to try to stop BC Ferries from putting a cable ferry on the Denman Island run.

Ferries got approval from the Ferry Commission for the project last month, and awarded the $15-million shipbuilding contract to Seaspan days later.

In a bulletin to members, the Union says it’s asking lawyers to go to the BC Court of Appeal to argue that the Commissioner should not have signed-off on the cable ferry.
