West Vancouver Police say they’ve charged a 47 year-old Nanaimo man in connection with a wrong-way driving accident on the Upper Levels.
It happened around 7 Wednesday evening. Police started getting 911 calls from people who saw a white panel van heading east in the westbound lanes near Taylor Way. Shortly afterwards the van was involved in a collision with two other vehicles.
A two year-old girl in one of those other vehicles needed surgery for a broken shoulder. She was in a minivan with her parents and a 7 year-old sister. They escaped without serious injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was also lucky.
The man behind the wheel of the wrong-way van suffered a broken leg and hip, and police arrested him at hospital. He’s charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm and dangerous driving.
